WHAT IS AN IMPLANT SUPPORTED OVERDENTURE?

A denture that is supported by implants is known as an implant supported overdenture.

An overdenture that is affixed to and supported by implants is known as an implant-supported denture. Ordinary dentures are not supported by implants; instead, they lie on the gums.

When a person has sufficient bone in their jaw to support implants but no teeth, they may use implant supported dentures. These dentures have unique base attachments that slide onto implant attachments to increase the denture’s stability while in use. This helps to improve your ability to chew as well as the appearance of your denture by decreasing its tendency to shift during eating and speaking.

Implant-supported overdentures are a popular option for those who need to replace missing teeth. They are a very advantageous replacement for conventional dentures.

The overdenture is anchored in place by these implants. Like natural teeth, an overdenture supported by implants is fastened in the mouth. It can be taken off for upkeep and cleaning at night.

For almost 20 years, patients in the dental field have frequently received these kinds of dentures as treatment.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF IMPLANT-SUPPORTED OVERDENTURES?

  • Chewing a greater range of foods is made easier by their greater stability compared to traditional dentures. With implant-supported overdentures, you’ll find it simpler to take larger pieces if you enjoy eating steak.
  • Compared to traditional dentures, covering less of the palate (or roof of the mouth) since the implants firmly anchor the denture in place.
  • Possibly increasing your ability to speak phonetically and preventing loose dentures.
  • In general, it causes less irritation to the cheeks and gums than traditional dentures.
  • Because of their inconspicuous chrome or acrylic base, which resembles gum, they are unobtrusive. They also won’t fall out of your mouth by accident, so you may laugh and converse freely in front of people.
