WHAT IS SINUS AUGMENTATION?
When a patient has lost bone in their maxilla (upper jaw), one of the most popular bone grafting procedures is sinus augmentation, sometimes known as a “sinus lift.” These malformations may be brought on by trauma, injury, wearing dentures, periodontal disease, or developmental issues. These flaws may result in an unsightly depression in the jaw line next to the lost teeth as well as insufficient bone for the installation of dental implants.
A patient who is among the following may benefit from surgery and consider a sinus lift:
- Missing more than one tooth in the posterior maxilla;
- Missing a large amount of bone in the posterior maxilla;
- Missing teeth due a congenital (present at birth) defect or condition; or
- Missing most of the maxillary teeth and need firm anchorage for multiple implants.
A sinus lift may be necessary if you:
- Are missing more than one tooth in the back of your jaw
- Are missing a significant amount of bone in the back of your jaw
- Are missing teeth due to a birth defect or condition
- Are missing most of the maxillary teeth, but require support for dental implants
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU QUALIFY FOR RIDGE OR SINUS AUGMENTATION?
If insufficient supporting tissues prevented you from receiving dental implants in the past, you might be a candidate for a sinus or ridge augmentation. If you feel insecure or embarrassed about your receding gum line, you can also be eligible. Make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Ramisz Dental & Facial Cosmetic Clinic right away to learn more about sinus and ridge augmentations and to find out if you qualify.
